  1. I am finding this to be very difficult. How does one get the bulbs and the metal connectors to stay in the rubber socket? My bulbs keep falling out and into the gauges. Only worked on the temperature gauge and the one below it so far. Ve ry frustrating.
  2. What type of LEDs are you using? Brand, number, etc?
  3. My 1975 has the parking brake handle under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. Mounted on the brake shaft is a momentary electrical switch to activate the light on the dash. Any idea where I might find one of those switches?
  4. Mounts on parking brake shaft under dash to operate light on dash. 1975 Avanti II.
  5. Just installed the led flasher with ground wire and it solved my problem. Side markers, front and rear turn signals and parking lights, all work. Thank you much for this helpful tip. Avoided adding resisters to the front signals, which might have also worked but would have been more difficult.
  6. How many bulbs are in and about the shifter? I know only one that lights the gear selector. Your pix is much brighter than my 1975.
  7. My 1975 does not have cruise control. I replaced the flasher on the fuseblock with a digital version and installed LEDs in the rear turn signals, taillights, backup lights, and side markers. All work. But putting LEDs in the front turn signals do not work. What am I missing? Resisters in line to the front turn signals? A ground wire to the flasher as you have done?
  8. Most electrical problems on these fiberglass cars seem to be ground issues. Also check Bob Johnstone’s site for electrical diagrams. Unlikely fuse issue. And while you are messing with these lights, you might as well convert to red LEDs. Vast improvement.
  9. Send pics to Jmellowitz @sbcglobal.net.
  10. If you find the momentary switch that fits on the parking brake shaft, and operates the red light on the dash, please let me know.
  11. The one on the right is for the auxiliary lights on my 1975. I am told the one on the left is the rear window deicer.

Regular incandescent bulbs work fine so grounds are good. Perhaps the LEDs don’t draw enough juice to trigger the flasher?

Two led bulbs, in each of front turn signals. Neither works. Maybe I need a different flasher on the fuse block. The Novita flasher from autozone works the led taillight turn signals but not with the LEDs in front as well. Hmmm

The bulbs have offset mounting tits, one higher than the other. I can’t reverse them in the socket.

Follow up problem. Taillight LEDs working fine with digital flasher relay from autozone. Also put LEDs in backup lights and side markers. All work great. Then tried adding an LED to right front turn signal. Nothing. What is the problem? Is it too much to ask for LEDs front and rear?
  16. There’s an Avanti in the futuristic film Gattica. Fits the sci-fi theme.
  17. I have learned that 90% of lighting problems are caused by a broken ground, given the need for grounding with the fiberglass body. As to the cigarette lighter, there is a fuse at the bottom of the lighter that may need replacement.

How does one access the red round console light just behind the white courtesy light? Can’t do it by removing the courtesy light. Want to replace with LED. Already done the others on console. Also, what turns on the two small round lights at the top of the console?
  19. Looking for two front Recaro seats with extendable headrests. Gray leather.

Replaced flasher in fuse block with a Novita EL12 purchased from autozone. Blinkers now working. LED taillights much brighter. Big safety improvement for about $30 total. Thanks for the tips.

Just replaced the taillights in my 1975 with LEDs. They light but turn signals do not signal. What am I missing?
