mfg Posted Friday at 06:34 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:34 PM And yes… I agree it’s time to stop chasing tails!!
aardvark Posted Friday at 10:47 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 10:47 PM (edited) I stated this thread as an opinion point, to hopefully list some common sense to help buy and sell our products. Last thing I expected is a pissing match on said issues. Sorry MFG... I said I was out but this needed said. Now I'm out. Edited Friday at 10:48 PM by aardvark

Sorry aardvark… and you can place me on the list of ‘sellers’ if I’m ever reduced to describing Avanti automobiles, vehicles that have become a big part of my life, as “PRODUCTS”!
Bob Preston Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM I’d call you quitters but you keep posting.
mfg Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM 11 minutes ago, Bob Preston said: I’d call you quitters but you keep posting. In reviewing my posts on this thread, I attempted to steer perspective Avanti buyers towards a common sense way of making a purchase. I believe I made my point, although it did fall on a few deaf ears. I sure hope Bob and aardvark enjoy driving their ‘products’ before they sell them off, hopefully achieving financial success. I’d add that if a perspective purchaser cannot travel long distance to see an Avanti he/she is interested in, then hiring an automotive appraisal service, or knowledgeable AOAI club member to evaluate the car would be, in my opinion, an excellent idea. Good luck to all!
Bob Preston Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Good gravy, mfg, I’m not sure if you’re not listening, confused or both. What has you convinced that I might sell my “product” for a profit? If I go first, my wife is going to donate my car collection to The Gilmore Car Museum. Get over yourself. Why are grown men so sensitive?

Why are grown men so sensitive? Hmmm…..Such an “inane” comment! I suspect you are smart enough to serve up more than “platitudes”! (Above are Bob Preston’s own 50 cent words he sent my way) Bob, all you & aardvark have spoken about is Avanti monetary values, and inaccurate ‘1 to 10’ condition estimations….Perhaps you should get out on the road and enjoy your Avanti…. instead of fretting over what it might be worth? The value I receive from my ‘63 Avanti R2 is the pleasure I get out of driving and showing it… you should try it! And please do not respond… This is REALLY getting old!
Bob Preston Posted yesterday at 03:13 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:13 AM Here’s the deal. You can’t tell others what they should do. I’m not sure if you’re a moron or just want to argue. I just bought the damn car and it is being worked on so that I can drive it to the Gilmore for the Wednesday drive ins. I may drive it to the Studebaker Museum next summer. I don’t really care what it’s worth. Are you listening?

aardvark Posted yesterday at 04:57 AM Author Report Posted yesterday at 04:57 AM (edited) Sheesh.. I edited out what I was going to say. It is always interesting what people will say to each other when not face to face, but instead on Internet. Civility gets lost. Edited yesterday at 05:39 AM by aardvark

Of course, in person, we’d use our real names. Forums actually allow more time to write a response. It’s astounding that someone would be disturbed by a couple of folks discussing Avanti values in a thread with “Avanti Values” in the title. In person, I’d probably ask “What did you think we were going to talk about?” For someone who tells others they need to respect differing opinions yet fails to do so themselves, I’d call them a hypocrite. For someone who repeatedly takes jabs at a conversation because they believe it is pointless, I might suggest that they find someone else to talk to and strike up their own conversation. In between the disruptive posts, there has been a rational conversation. Now that I’ve deployed the ignore feature, perhaps it can continue without further interruption.
Skip Lackie Posted yesterday at 02:29 PM Report Posted yesterday at 02:29 PM I stopped reading this thread a couple of weeks ago -- and woke up this morning to discover it has added 2.5 pages in a couple of days! You guys really know how to beat a subject to death.
Bob Preston Posted yesterday at 03:30 PM Report Posted yesterday at 03:30 PM Thanks for another helpful and informative post. That’s what keeps these things alive.
mfg Posted yesterday at 05:11 PM Report Posted yesterday at 05:11 PM Actually, I think forum readers like to see a bit of feistiness and ‘agreement to disagree’ (hopefully)…. It keeps the old heart beating and the old blood pumping….. The only reason all of us look at and sometimes participate on this or any automotive forum, is the basic love for the vehicle (or “product” to some!!) in question…..AVANTIS!!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS FOLKS!!!
aardvark Posted yesterday at 06:46 PM Author Report Posted yesterday at 06:46 PM Skip.. I started the thread to invite opinions. It turned into a pissing match which is sad to see those in this forum degrade themselves while disrespecting others. I'll think hard before wasting my time entering opinions with low expectations of future childish crap.

Well, it’s good to hear from you again aardvark… Enjoy driving your “product” in the coming New Year!!!
aardvark Posted yesterday at 07:56 PM Author Report Posted yesterday at 07:56 PM Done... MFG... You can glamorize anything You want but a Car was produced... thus Product.

We all have are own reasons for owning an Avanti…. However, your calling it a “PRODUCT” was a bit much… don’t you think?
aardvark Posted 17 hours ago Author Report Posted 17 hours ago MFG. No. It was Manufactured and sold as a Product. You / I can glamorize or Love the Product as we see fit but it is a conglomeration of parts Factory Assembled and then sold. I do Love me some HP and these Cars are quite a unique item.. That said, they are a Product. In my case a heavily desired Product. Just call em what they are,, then add Your own twist to it. I keep saying I'm done.... but keep getting challenged on my opinions.

Someone else is wasting your time. In all probability you’ll continue to hear the same things from the same individuals. If you stop creating or participating in discussions out of concern for what someone else might say, then you’ve allowed yourself to be controlled by another person. You’ll have been silenced or bullied. That’s not a positive outcome. One option is to exclude certain posts from appearing on your screen. The other is to simply not respond. In my experience, the former is more effective. It’s also necessary to accept that others will see the posts that you do not see or respond to which could make you appear weak or timid, when in reality you’ve become more powerful. Currently you’re caught in a trap over semantics and emotions when the topic is car values. And I’m going on about something unrelated to car values as well. We can do better.
