The 2001-2007 Avanti's are really unique looking and beautiful to some.  So when you open the hood, what does it look like then?

My 2006 engine looked pretty plain, so I decide to upgrade the appearance by painting the valve covers.  There are some aftermarket valve covers available, but for the money, you end up with "Ford" or "Ford Racing" made into the cover.  So, I spent less that $100 to paint the covers to match the car color, including a new gasket set.  Here are before and after photos:

That worked out well. Like it a LOT.

My complaint about ANY of these Newer Cars has always been the Plastic Intake Manifolds.

Not only do they look cheesy, they also (over time) crack and cause engine issues. They crack due to extreme temp changes from freezing cold to full engine temps.

Over time, Plastic is destined to fail.. and it just doesn't look good either.,

BUT That's My Personal opinion.

Yea, that's true.  I may paint the throttle body next.  Another thought is to wrap the intake runner tops with carbon fiber wrap like I did on the dash.

Whereas that might be an improvement visually, it's like putting putting lipstick on a pig.  A new aluminum Intake is a vast improvement in performance and longevity.

Note... I'm just speaking opinion and past experiences with plastic intakes getting old, brittle snd cracking.  I have no plans on replacing my original Manifold unless it goes bad... Then I'd replace it with Aluminum but not until..
