R5335
So, I was researching camshafts trying to understand what I've got and why and was wondering why the R1 and the R2 used the exact same camshaft? Watching a variety of "Youtube" videos, it seems as though the R2 might have had better performance with a different camshaft designed for positive pressure intake, ie "blower". What's the thoughts out there amongst the experts? Have any updated their camshafts for the R2 setup to improve performance?
Gunslinger
Costs...state of the art in 1962...lots of reasons why Studebaker did what they did. They were fortunate to even get the Avanti green lighted for production with essentially off the shelf parts with few custom additions.
64studeavanti
I have Isky ST5 in one of the R1s. 4speed with 3.54 R/A. a little doggy at the start, but sure picks up around 3,000 rpm!
