Front courtesy and signal lights filament breaking

I am having a problem with both front signal.lights not working and shortly after I put new bulbs in  - first the signal lights stop working then the whole bulb.  I have put several new ones in. 

I am using an 1154 bulb - is this the correct bulb?

1154 is 6 volt.  You need an 1157.

1157 for front and rear lights.  1156 for back up lights.
