Sorry, don't know how recent this topic is, but a recent purchase has me scratching my head. The horn I received is an Auto-Lite model HW. The horn terminates in a triangle and one side of the horn looks like half of a grapefruit. Now working off the Authenticity manual I see nothing but Sparton horns that are relatively rectangular and flat AND receive the spade connector from the wiring harness. Is there some little known history to the Avanti??

Here’s a pic of the pair of Spartans off of #1388.  Have no reason to believe that are not original, and only 12 cars different than your #1400.  Someday I’ll put em back on🙄

Thanks for your input. I think I found the answer in the parts catalog. it specs the Sparton horns.

One thing threw me a curveball. On page 25 of the Electrical section of the workshop manual has a picture of a different horn. I'm assuming that everything was rush-rush in trying to publish a manual at the same time they were building a new car.

The manual had to be printed and distributed to dealers by the time cars were to be sold.  Parts and suppliers could well have been changed after the manuals were printed.  That’s what factory service letters and supplemental documentation was for.
