AVANTI BODY TAG DECODING!

With regard to the body tag located on the top passenger inner fender on the '63/'64 Avanti, I know they would start with either 63 or 64 but what do the other letters/numbers indicate?  Are there certain designations for an R1 or R2 car is what I am interested in knowing,,

I guess what I should also have asked was, on the data plate on the passenger frame rail, would a R2 car number start with RS- and then the production # or just an R- and the number?,,,

No indication of engine type on frame serial plate...but the engine block serial number would begin with an 'R' if unsupercharged, or 'RS' if supercharged.....

If you are looking to find how the car originally was equipped, look no further than the Studebaker National Museum, and order the original production order from them which will give you all the original options, color, key numbers, and engine numbers.
