There is an exact number reported, but considering how Avanti Motors jumped serial numbers, assigned but didn't actually build cars with some numbers, plus build and sell cars out of any kind of exact order, it seems difficult to nail down an exact production number. Cars constructed during a year against cars sold during that year plus cars started in one year and completed the next year (possibly even paid for before assembly began) all makes it a form of voodoo to figure it out.

Yes, it does seem like they flew by the 'seat of their pants' most of the time................They made one hell of an interesting car though!!

As I recall, one of our members has a Avanti II that was made with one serial number and then sold as a different year model and serial number during the Altman Days.
