Leo B
Hi, I bought new Electronic Distributor + Coil from Nostalgic Motor Cars https://www.nostalgicmotorcars.net/store/p253/Studebaker_Avanti_1963-64_and_all_Studebaker_V-8_1951-1964_Distributor%2C_Coil%2C_Plug_Wires..html#/ In instructions is written: Must bypass ballast resistor if applicaple. 1. Do I use resistor or not? About Advancement Distributor Chart. I have R2. 2. Which Springs I should use? Black springs, Silver Springs or Gold Springs. I think that idle should be 24 degrees? 1inxs
Dan is always ready to walk one through the process. I would call him and ask for guidance. I posted my response without looking at you location! The instructions say to bypass the resistor It looks like anything above 1900 degrees no springs are used. Hopefully someone that has done the upgrade will respond Edited August 22, 2022 by 1inxs

I told earlier I have R2 and I expected to get better instructions but better to ask more. 👍 Edited August 22, 2022 by Leo B
Leo B
Hi, I got email from Dan. He wrote that no need to have resistor which I was quite sure (resistor is to safe contact breakers). Also to use vacuum advance. He was not sure which map/springs to use but I found this which might be answer: Gold Springs https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/forum/your-studebaker-forum/tech-talk/1899206-advance-curve
