mfg
Anyone out there know which member of the original Avanti design team was quoted as saying;..."As far as the vehicle's general appearance is concerned, correct basic form will produce a better appearance"? Gunslinger
It sounds like something Tom Kellogg might say. I would say Raymond Loewy, but some of his personal car designs kind of don't match that statement.

8E45E
Probably John Ebstein E.T. Reynolds referred to him as the 'father' of the Avanti in his autobiography. Craig
Guest dapy
I have always considered Sherwood Egbert the "father" of the Avanti.
Gunslinger
I have always considered Sherwood Egbert the "father" of the Avanti. I agree with that. If it wasn't for Egbert, there would never have been an Avanti. Loewy may be the designer of credit, he gave Egbert what he wanted. In the end, it was a group collaboration and effort...Egbert had the vision...Loewy had the design parameters and the design team made it happen with Loewy's oversight and Egbert's approval. Then the engineers and everyone else at Studebaker made it real. Following that, the marketing people and sales force got it to the public. While we can second guess and criticize the effectiveness of the effort in hindsight, it was still an amazing effort nonetheless.
