Trivia!...Avanti Wheelcovers

Trivia...The original Studebaker Avanti wheelcover was the 'base' or 'standard' wheelcover for Avanti ll's through and including the '83 model....True?

Early II's had the wheel covers and I've seen later years also with the wheel covers, but I don't recall them being the base wheel cover for my '76 sales option list. My '76 originally came with wire covers, so I'll say false.

I'll say true.

My 83 window sticker says "wheel covers" as standard equipment and my earlier literature shows four options with wheel covers standard. The literature doesn't have a print date but the II's shown have the added crash bumper so probably mid - late 70's.

I'd go with Avanti83 on this one....just from the info I've seen over the years, including the '83 factory brochure.
