darrellbrink
Recently have received a stainless exhaust system from Don Simmons - very high quality pipes, is it recommended to slot the pipes ends or use some sort of exhaust sealer for a tight fit? Gunslinger
While I've heard nothing but positive things about Simmons exhaust systems, I've no personal experience with them. Do you need to slot the pipes to make them fit together? Maybe they're intended to be welded rather than clamped? If needed, rather than slot them, either buy, rent or borrow a pipe expander to open them up to slip into one another. Then use stainless clamps. If done correctly sealer isn't necessary. Once the system is on, let the engine run and cover each exhaust tip and if there's any leaks on that side you'll hear it and can correct it if necessary. I didn't do either and no leaks on his system in my 83. This is my post on the SDC forum about the install. http://forum.studeba...ess-(Silvertone)-Exhaust-Installation-Length-and-picture-warning Bob
