gas pedal linkage

What the speed shop that installed my crate engine and 700R4 in my '70 did was use a Zoops or Lokar (can't remember which) gas pedal that mounts on the bulkhead and comes from above rather than mounted on the floor, then added a throttle cable rather than use the stock linkage. They found that was a better way to go with the fuel injection unit I wanted, but it would work just as effectively with a carburetor.

For strength, they cut a piece of steel plate and mounted it on the engine side of the bulkhead to mount the new pedal assembly to. The fiberglass bulkhead is sandwiched between them so there's no chance of the fiberglass flexing or cracking.

My 83 has the same setup as Bruce's an aftermarket pedal and Lokar cable. This is a good system.

The original linkage is a pretty complex setup and I tried hard to find a simple pedal assembly from an OEM setup with no success.
