Paul K.
I just picked up another Avanti last Friday. It is a '74 II and I need to remove the ignition lock. It has the AMC rally steering wheel with the 3 brushed alluminum spokes with slots. I know how to remove the wheel, it is getting the horn button off that has me puzzled. It is a center pad and it looks like the type that should just twist off or lift off easily. There are no screws anywhere. I am going to try to post a pic of the wheel which is the same as on the Avanti. Thanks,
Gunslinger
I'm not positive but I have dealt with similar wheels before. If it's like them, you need to disconnect the battery, then push the horn button assembly down and twist. It should come off easily.
ernier
If it doesn't twist off, like I think it should, take a look at the center emblem and see if it looks like it prys out, there might be a screw under there. ErnieR
