I would guess your control valve if everything is connected properly. I think an air bubble would work it's way out after a couple of lock to lock turns
FYI, my 1980 is not squirrelly at all and has a very small amount of play going down the road straight. Not enough to hardly notice

You may have an expansion valve stuck closed. I try to achieve around 30 PSIG on the low side and 2.5 times the ambient temperature in degrees F on the high side so if it was was 70 degrees F, then 2.5 times 70 would be 175 PSIG. You are obviously a little low but even with those pressures, you should see some cooling.

Great! what about the condensor? Did it need to be changed?
I am running the original condenser. Some newer ones might be more efficient though. I replaced hoses and the receiver dryer

Fonts, schmonts... why they hell do they have to advertise that it's a clock, Pantera? That's enough to make me not want that, though maybe I could use my existing face on it.
Well, it could be worse. They could have written "clock" in braille as well. I could say that it was designed for blondes but my wife would object.🤣

As Jim78 said, the aluminum A6 replacement does bolt right in. I am running it on my 1980

I THINK there are nuts on the inside but not sure. I KNOW that the washer reservoir is secured from under the dash.
I can check on my car and see about that bracket

@brad thanks for the headsup
I will mention that I was getting a lot of water on my front carpets and discovered that the stainless trim on the A pillar did not have sealer under it. I removed the trim and applied sealer under it and no more problems

Good point!......I went with a manual lockup switch on my '83 for complete control.

Where did you put the manual lockup switch? Can you leave it on all of the time?

Here is what i bought a couple of years ago. Even is lit in red.
Had to rig a pushbutton under the dash to make setting it easier but works well
