Well, I never owned even one Corvette but my neighbor (1950's) had the vacuum wipers - might as well not have any wipers at all almost!🤪

My first Stude was a 1947 Champion and every time you accelerated, the wipers would stop.🤣

And the 'PanMan' is CORRECT once again!!!!!

That is because i have owned Corvettes and my friends Dad had a Rambler American. It had vacuum wipers and he ran string out of the wind wing to pull them back as they would only move one way.🤣

CLOSE ENOUGH!...Factory electric radiator fans weren't, in many cases, up to the job.....so several 'near new' Avantis were returned to the factory for engine driven fan retrofit.

    Isn't that a cooling problem? 🤣

I will answer with more details next time. I have a friend with an 85 model

On '80-'85 Avantis, the distributor is concealed under a black plastic cover...which is grounded to the engine via a braided metal strap.

Since plastic is not a conductive material, why did the factory feel the need to ground that distributor cover?

Interesting as my 1980 has a metal cover

But every time I mention that possibility to someone else they wonder about the wheelbase length. Was the Caprice chassis the right wheelbase for the Avanti or did they have do some work to cut the chassis down? According to google the 1987 - 1988 G body cars were 108" wheelbase and a 1989 Caprice was 116"

What did they do with that extra 8 inches? Or are the 1989 Convertibles 8 inches longer than the 1988 cars?

I read somewhere that it was a cut down Caprice Chassis
