The first one available to a private owner was three.  I do not know if this was the first one delivered.  I took delivery of 1987 Avanti -006 new.

And you are CORRECT!...................It must have been very exciting to take delivery of a brand new 1987 Avanti, your car #6!

Yes, it was.  Mine, --06,  was a coupe.  I was also under contract to buy a convertible,  --27, new.  The dealer sold it out from under me just before I went to take delivery.  I guess that he got a better offer.  Life is too short to fight it.
