mfg
The aluminum carburetor air box that Studebaker used on its 'R3' Avanti engine has more in common with the carb air box used on the '57 Stude Golden Hawk engine than it has with the air box used on the '58 Golden Hawk engine.......True? brad
True, it doesn't have the idle screw extensions like the later Golden Hawk air boxes had. (and like the early ones didn't)

Gladly!....The R3 box is more like the 1958 airbox, as Studebaker decided to save $$$$ and route the fuel line through a cheapy rubber grommet which would eventually deteriorate and leak pressurized air......Same deal with the R3 'box'. The '57 air box (both early and late versions) were 'hard plumbed', with the lower box machined for gas to pass through it, a much better setup. (unfortunately also more expensive setup!)
