mfg Posted December 22, 2017 Report Posted December 22, 2017 In order to use Chevrolet Caprice and Monte Carlo frames under the Avanti body, the frames had to be modified thru cutting and welding.....What (by far) was the most drastic (and highly unusual) part of these modifications?
wdaly Posted December 23, 2017 Report Posted December 23, 2017 The only thing I can think of is the cutting off of part of the rear end, but that's not very drastic/highly unusual.

Your at the correct area of the frame.....but what came next REALLY IS very unusual (at least in my opinion!) ...(HINT...think L & R)
mfg Posted December 29, 2017 Author Report Posted December 29, 2017 ANSWER.................The rear frame rails were cut off at the 'kick up' over the rear axle, swapped RIGHT to LEFT, then welded back on!!!!
wdaly Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 I did not Know that! Why did they do that?

wdaly Posted January 2, 2018 Report Posted January 2, 2018 I just happen to be in possession of several 'body-off' pictures of this (Monte) car. As you said, as installed the very rear section of frame now moves closer to the center! Interesting. Thanks!
