mfg Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) Ironically, although the '63-'64 Studebaker Avanti featured several domestic auto industry 'firsts', while the '63-'64 Corvette didn't feature any, ....... and although both vehicles were made of fiberglass, with a base price very similar, ........... GM sold approx ------?------- times as many Corvettes as Studebaker did Avantis. 1) 3.........2) 5...........3) 10......or........4) 12 Edited September 25, 2017 by mfg
studegary Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 I will go with your answer 3) 10 because you say "approx.". There were 9.4 times as many '63-'64 Corvettes as Avantis. The number is only 4.1 if you just consider coupes (apples to apples).
studegary Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 The base price did favor the Corvettes. A Corvette convertible was 10.1% ($408) less than an Avanti and a Corvette coupe was 4.4% ($188) less than an Avanti. I had two friends that purchased new Corvette convertibles instead of Avantis and my sister purchased a new 1963 Thunderbird coupe instead of an Avanti.
mfg Posted September 25, 2017 Author Report Posted September 25, 2017 You've got it Gary....# 3 is CORRECT!...(and thanks for the extra info!)
