mfg Posted September 6, 2017 Report Posted September 6, 2017 Studebaker Avantis and early Avanti ll's equipped with automatic transmissions can be safely towed (no harm to transmission) on their rear wheels for short distances (25 miles) with vehicle in neutral and driveshaft installed because these transmissions are equipped with a ........?.........

CORRECT!.....................I learned the importance of an automatic transmission rear oil pump when I was a teenager pushing my friends 1969 Ford Fairlane all over town at speeds up to 50 MPH in hopes of starting that engine....NO LUCK.....NO REAR PUMP.........I could have pushed that Ford 100MPH with the same result!!!!!!
