During Studebakers 10/63 Bonneville speed and endurance trials, Andy Granatelli, alarmed, shut down high-speed runs by both of his female drivers mid-week.....What upset Andy?

Pretty close!.......Apparently Andy felt the course was deteriorating by mid-week, and cautioned his two female drivers not to lean on it too heavily.

One (or both?) paid no attention to his advice, so he officially shut down the girls 'high speed' activities.
