When the second Avanti body assembly line start in South Bend, Indiana in December 1962, I believe that it occupied space shared with truck production. mfg Posted July 28, 2017 Author Report Share Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) ANSWER.......The reason there are very few pictures extant of Studebaker Avanti production is due to a 'request' by Egbert NOT to photograph the Avanti during its production. Why?....because Egbert did not want his 'cutting edge' new sports car to be photographed being built in a wooden floored building once used to assemble buggys!!
