BAM
I have owned RQB2219 (1975) for a couple of years, and enjoy driving it. I have no reason to suspect a problem with the hog troughs (torque boxes), and a visual peek underneath doesn't indicate any issues. But what I have read about the hog troughs indicates that they are important and I would like a proper inspection to be sure everything's OK. I am not qualified and wonder if any local body shop could do it, or do I need a specialist. I don't know of any mechanics near me (Nashville, Tenn.) who are truly knowledgable about these cars. Thanks!
Avanti83
I would think any body shop could do it. It's just bent sheet metal. Personally, IIWM I'd take an icepick and wander around poking at them. Have them pay particular attention to the rear areas if you are uncomfortable under there. Also have them look at the frame rails particularly over the rear wheels and the rear cross member. Good luck
mfg
What Avanti83 says about the troughs and rear frame rails is exactly right....and you can do it yourself ,without spending a dime, if you have the ability of lifting your Avanti up to get under it SAFELY!.
