In spite of owning a 1963 Avanti in 1963 (I now have a 1964), I did not remember a rock group called the Avantis. I heard them on the 60's Sirius channel today.

I clearly remember that song...it's a good one!...However, I do not remember a group that called themselves "The Avantis" either!

I think what happened here is the song was also recorded by another group...and their version became the popular hit.
