R2 Engine Pushrods

Cleaning up the push rods for my R2 engine rebuild and I'm wondering if these push rods should be open at both ends for oil to flow through, both ends have a dark spot as shown in the picture but it seems very hard, don't know if it's dried up oil or if they are supposed to be solid on each end, any help with this would be appreciated,,,

The ends are solid.  No hole for oil flow.  The oil for the rocker arms flows from a passage in the head alongside one of the rocker arm / head bolts into the hollow rocker arm shaft.  Be sure to remove the shaft end plugs and clean out the shaft.  Best to remove the rockers and also clean the lube holes.

This rocker shaft is from a R2 I am working on. Some are worse than this.

Thanks, I did remove the caps from the rocker shafts to clean it out,,,
