TerryR2 Posted Wednesday at 11:30 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:30 AM Just moved to Kansas City and have a couple 63 R2 Avanti's and looking for a good mechanic that understands them. I'm willing to trailer to wherever I need to go within a 500 mi radius, any suggestions?

TerryR2 Posted Wednesday at 12:47 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 12:47 PM 63 R2 auto- just finishing up restoration- has a fresh rebuild that hasn't been broken in yet..needs some tweaking, running a little rough and my mechanic that did the work is in Ca. 63 R2 4speed- needs complete engine rebuild and maybe tranny too.
TerryR2 Posted Wednesday at 03:00 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 03:00 PM Thanks! I talked to Brad but he is not taking on anymore work. Terry
Dunkin Posted Thursday at 01:25 PM Report Posted Thursday at 01:25 PM Brad is getting like most of us with the age problems.
Bob Preston Posted Thursday at 03:56 PM Report Posted Thursday at 03:56 PM While our cars have some peculiarities, they don’t require a specialist for most work, including an engine and/or transmission rebuild. I’d seek out a reputable shop for the engine rebuild and see if they might recommend a good mechanic.
Hogtrough Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago For mechanical work, find a mechanic who understands old cars in general. Go to a local car show and talk to someone with a 50's car. Anyone who understands 50's cars can understand an Avanti, because underneath, it's basically a '53. And the engine is very similar to early 50's Caddy and Olds motors.
