mfg
The 'frame gauge' thickness of a Studebaker Avanti is thirteen. (At least when the cars were new!!!)........True?
BRitz
True. If built with the V-8 Lark Frame. The 6 Cyl Lark Frame was 14ga. The higher the # the thinner the metal. Neumann & Altman were forced to start using the thinner fames late in their tenure when the V-8 NOS 13ga was depleted.
Gunslinger
The thinner frames were used beginning in 1977 on car numbers RQB2596, RQB2599 and continually at serial number RQB2607. I understand they added some kind of braces to strengthen the frame to previous standards.
mfg
Hmmmmmm!.....Correct me if i'm wrong here guys, but I always thought the frame gauge thickness in a STUDEBAKER Avanti was eleven (11) And if I AM correct about that, the answer to this question would be FALSE!
