Grounding Starter Solenoid

I would run a ground to the frame or engine, whichever is closer.  It should have been grounded previously, so I'd look for a wire close by the may have broken off.  Usually, they ran grounds with white wires, at least on my 82 they did.  Also, double check that the engine and frame have good ground connections.  On mine, I also found a broken ground wire at the steering shaft coupler.  This coupler is located close to the steering gear box and there is a white wire that connects the metal part of each side of the coupler.  I'm sure this was done to ground the steering column to the chassis/frame.
