I just bought a 1963 Avanti 63R 4330, its been off the road for approx 30 years, it presently lives in Michigan and was owned previously by a Navy vet. does anyone have any information about this car? dean 505-414-0617 or kramerdad1@aol.com, thanks

I'm wondering if your Avanti's serial plate may read 'R4330' instead of '63R4330'?

I thought the '63' was dropped around serial # 63R3000.

There was a post on this forum indicating that R4330 was originally equipped with 3spd trans. Also, Bob Johnstone's web site indicates previous owners. ,Sam Nardo Erie PA. And before that from Port Angeles WA. Engine #R2914 and body #RQ3368.

If you get the production order from the Studebaker museum, that may provide original owner - at least the destination. Additionally, Dan Booth at Nostalgic may have the "born" documents for that serial number.
