False.  A Studebaker Avanti's coolant circulates only through the engine and radiator.

Sorry, the answer here is True!

The Avanti's PowerShift transmission's fluid is circulated through its own coils in the radiator and so is cooled by the air drawn through the radiator.  So, is the trans fluid also cooled by the engine coolant?

A little confusing, but here's how I see it......

(1) The transmission fluid, ultimately flowing through the torque converter, is cooled by the transfer of its contained heat to engine coolant at the 'cool' side of the radiator....the cooler fluid would naturally keep the converter's temperature down.

(2) The converter's main source of cooling is air, which flows around the converter, inside the sheet metal circular ducting welded to the converter's outer case...and then directed outside the torque converter housing.
