Sorry Ed, that's not the answer. According to Paxton Service Bulletins posted on Bob Johnstone's site www.studebaker-info.org, the R3/R4 lifters "........are .25 oz. lighter than the stock lifter."

That's interesting!...I remember how very thick the valve lifter wall was in the early 232 CI Stude V8....and how Studebaker bored out most of that thick lifter wall when they improved the engine in 1955 (259 CI)....Hard to believe Paxton could get another 1/4 ounce of material out of it!!
