Like other 1963 Studebakers, the 'doghouse' of an Avanti was attached to the main body as one previously assembled piece......True?

What is a "doghouse" in automotive parlance?

'Doghouse' is a term used to describe the front body components of a car...taken as an assembly, Usually the two front fenders (with or without hood),  inner fender skirts, radiator core support, and front grill and/or header panel.:)
