steve remick Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 What year was the first Avanti convertible?
mfg Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 I'd say the first Avanti convertible which was 'for sale' would have been a model year 1985, (Blake), although there were a few prototypes built earlier than that.
plwindish Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Two prototypes were made in 1983, using 1970 and 1982 coupes. Blake did make 3 in the 1985 model year. No 1986 models, but the extremely good looking convertible was produced in 87, 88, 89 and 91 model years. 1989 was the highest convertible production with 100 made.
steve remick Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Posted June 16, 2015 Richard Straman was retained to change the coupe into a convertible. They used a 1982 coupe RQB3370 for the conversion.
