mfg
What was the reason Studebaker Avanti factory paint jobs seemed to 'wash out' (fade) sooner than the factory paint work found on other period Studebaker passenger cars? (All else being equal)
Gunslinger
I'm just guessing it could be the difference in lacquer used on Avantis and the enamel paint used on other Studebakers.
mfg
That's exactly the reason....The enamel Studebaker used, while no where near as 'tough' as what auto manufacturers use today, did stand up better than the acrylic lacquer Studebaker used on their Avantis.
