mfg
Aside from the shift pattern, the Avanti's 'Powershift' transmission is essentially the same automatic trans used in 1957 Golden Hawks.....True?
brad
True, the cooling lines, and wider front band were also in the Golden Hawk trans. But it didn't have the highter stall speed torque converter that the Powershift did.
mfg
Actually the answer here is FALSE....Although the two transmissions do share the parts you mention, the '57 trans had an entirely different tail housing, to accomodate the two-piece driveshaft used in '57. brad
True, but if you're just talking about the major internals, then they are a good source of parts. Also, the tailshaft and housing is very easily changed.
