mfg
On a Studebaker Avanti V8, how many factory oil pressure 'ports' are available on the exterior of the engine?.....1) one.......2) Two.....3) Three....or....4) Four ?
Warren Webb
Two, one on the rear of the right hand head & front on the left that was used previously for the partial flow oil filters.
brad
nine. 4 on each head, although two are not open to oil, they are there. And one at the left side by the bell housing.
garyc
Where would the best port be to add an oil pressure safety switch after adding an electric fuel pump?

That's interesting...I figured three, one on each head, and the one at the back of the engine that you mentioned. Can you please explain the "4 on each head"? mfg
Where would the best port be to add an oil pressure safety switch after adding an electric fuel pump? I'd add it to the 'easy to access' oil pressure port at the front of the left cylinder head....second choice, the one at the rear by the bellhousing. brad
If you look, there are also ports tapped and plugged facing front and back as well as up and down. There are these two in the front.....hmmmm now that you mention it there are only two on each head. I was over thinking [yes I was] the need for them at the fron as well as the rear. But if you swap heads side to side that would account for the front to back swap too. So there would be 5 total. as I stand corrected.
