mfg Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Which was the last race car to carry a factory sponsored "STUDEBAKER" name on it?
Gunslinger Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 I would think Andy Granatelli's STP turbine car.
mfg Posted February 10, 2015 Author Report Posted February 10, 2015 Good guess!...But the turbine car did not carry the Studebaker logo!.....Anyone else?
Gunslinger Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 If not the turbine car, then the Novi.
mfg Posted February 10, 2015 Author Report Posted February 10, 2015 Gunslinger...You're on the right track here.....But the question is 'THE' last car.....Anyone know which car that was?
Gunslinger Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 I know the 1964 Novi race car had the Studebaker name on it. I can't say if there were any later than that. While the Novi ran at Indy in '65, Studebaker was no longer building engines but still building cars in Canada with the McKinnon engine...not that I'm saying a Novi is a Stude engine.
mfg Posted February 12, 2015 Author Report Posted February 12, 2015 Gunslinger you're trying hard here, and I've got to give this one to you!...Your correct in that the Studebaker name was last used on a 1964 Indy 500 Novi race car....There were three Novis entered, and the only one to finish was car #3....'64 Novi #3 would be the last car to carry the 'factory' Stude name!
