mfg
AOAI member Dick Vaux's beautiful '64 Avanti (serial# R-4892) has a special license plate installed on the rear of it for auto shows. What is the significance of this license plate?

lschuc
The turquoise license plate says "Avanti by Studebaker" and was on this same 1964 Avanti when it was on display at the New York Auto Show in the fall of 1963. R-4892 is also the first 1964 Avanti that included all the 1964 updates. Earlier vin numbers may have had square headlight surrounds, one color interiors and/or woodgrain in the dash, but this was the first 1964 Avanti with all updates.
