mfg
Nate Altman continued using the Studebaker style body number tags on the right fender skirts of his 'A' series Avanti ll's, but those tags were phased out by the time 'B' production began......True? Gunslinger
False. Body number plates were discontinued beginning with RQB1516, soon after RQB production began.

Gunslinger
There was no reason to keep them...after all MFG was the sole supplier of bodies for Avanti Motors. First they supplied complete, assembled bodies then just the molded pieces and Avanti Motors assembled them. I suspect that Avanti Motors decided to skip body tags once the leftover bodies from the Studebaker contract were used up...they would have had body tags already on them for inventory purposes. Maybe it was as simple as the supply of body tags was depleted.
