The Studebaker Avanti's HD 40 amp prestolite alternator wasn't used on Avanti "R" engined Larks and Hawks because those cars had less 'electrical demand' than an Avanti......True?

False, the Larks, and Hawks also got the 40 amp ALT when R engine equipped

The answer to this question is TRUE and FALSE...Reason?.......The 'R' series Larks and Hawks DID NOT use the Avanti's HD 40 amp alternator....but the reason wasn't because of less electrical demand,....The reason was that the bigger 40 amp alternator housing wouldn't clear the inner fender skirts on the Lark and GT Hawk models!

Well, I've definitely been wrong before!.....Perhaps the smaller 35 amp had to be used on the GT Hawk only, due to the fender clearance issue?....I'm going to investigate this in more depth, and get back to you on this question. (PS...Nice Picture!)
