mfg
In 1963, if one were to order a replacement (service) short block for an Avanti R1, when assembled that engine could be operated with or without an oil filter.....True?
brad
well, early 63 non R series short blocks had plugs screwed into the machined base where the oil filter adapter would mount. I would think the R series short blocks would have the R series pistons, therefore be different than the standard replacement short block. I would say false in the case of R engines. The few replacement short blocks I've dealt with all had the factory block off plate,...but, your point about 'special for Avanti' may be valid,...so ..Answer to question..........?
