mfg Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Avantis built prior to October, 1962, had 'Studebaker-Packard' printed on their frame mounted serial number plate.....True?
Guest dapy Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 How many Avantis where produced prior to October 1962? How were they different? What was the lost 1962 serial?
garyc Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 369 was the count. Many improvements were made after Oct. The only noted changes prior to Oct. were improved rear window fastening and revised rear shocks. In Oct Baffled mufflers were available. I would say false to the serial number plate.
Gunslinger Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 I would say false as well. Studebaker dropped "Packard" from the corporate name in the Spring of 1962, and the Avanti was introduced in April. If any Avantis had a serial number plate that had "Studebaker-Packard" on it, it would have to been very few, considering real production was quite low during that time period.
mfg Posted December 12, 2014 Author Report Posted December 12, 2014 All well said......And FALSE is the correct answer to this question.
