Jerry1963
I am working my way through the engine compartment and need to work on my radiator support but cannot get it out. With all bolts removed I can move it around but due to the protruding frame/body supports I cannot get it out in one piece. Is there as secret for removal of the support or do I need to cut it to get it out? Thanks Jerry
64studeavanti
You either need to raise the body a little or cut a little off the inner fenders. The support was installed before body was mounted to frame.
Jerry1963
Thanks for the information. I was going to cut the support, but with your comments I believe I will cut the inner fenders.
64studeavanti
You should get a copy of Stan Gundry's book "What the Shop Manual Won't Tell You". It has info on this as well as many other useful bits. I believe you can order it from his web site. http://talkshop.blogs.com/avantipublishing/ Edited January 13, 2021 by 64studeavanti
Whlnut
I removed the support by trimming the right inner fender panel at the lower front. Then move driver side of support to where it can recess slightly to the outside. This allows you to move pass side rearward, then driver side, then up and out.
