mfg
How could a Studebaker Avanti built in December of 1962 be a 1963 AND a 1964 model? (but not both!)
Gunslinger
It was built as a '63 model year but later Studebaker sent out a letter to dealers telling them to title leftover unsold Avantis as '64s regardless of manufacture date. That's why the "63" was dropped from the serial numbers. That's also the explanation for so many '64 round-eye cars people think are transitional models but are actually '63 cars titled as '64s. As far as the states were concerned, it would be a 1964 as that's how it was originally titled and registered.
