mfg
When Studebaker went to a 'full flow' engine oiling system in mid '62, they also went from concave to cup type core plugs, necessitating a slight block / block machining change in both cases. Were there any other changes made to the Studebaker V8 engine block at that same time?
PackardV8
Like moving the oil breather/filler from the top of the block to the rocker covers? jack vines
mfg
That happened,...but I was referring to changes in the engine block itself....anything besides the oil rework and core plug change?
lschuc
Yes, of course they had to machine the place on the passenger side of the block for the oil filter base, with passages to the oil gallery. And on R-series engines, the oil drain back hole was enlarged under the lifter cover.
mfg
OK folks...I didn't know if anyone would 'zero in' on this one....but Ischuc did!.....The enlarged internal engine block oil drains....critical to an engine that will be run at high RPM....Well done Ischuc!
