The Studebaker Proving Grounds 'high speed' oval, outside of South Bend, (where Avantis were first tested) was a considerably 'faster' track than the old Packard Proving Grounds oval track in Detroit....True?

Packard was better for speed, and the Stude prooving grounds for things like hills and roughness durability, water troughs, and the like.
