mfg Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 The auto transmission Avanti Motors chose to use behind the 400CI engine in their mid '70's Avantis, was the strong and reliable TH350 GM unit....True?
Gunslinger Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 I believe they used the TH400 at first. I think they later changed to the TH350 as power levels dropped and costs rose. I think it was around 1982-1983 they began using the overdrive automatic.
warren55 Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 My 73 most certainly came with a 400 motor and the TH400 transmission, which I think lasted until at least 1976, maybe till 79? I know the 1980 model had a 350 motor and by 82 they were using the 305.
mfg Posted August 3, 2014 Author Report Posted August 3, 2014 warren55 gets this one....The TH400 was the only auto trans used behind the big '400' Chevy...Answer to question..FALSE
