On R3 Avantis, Studebaker used the same upper control arms with threaded steel inner bushings as used on '51-'52 Studebaker cars. But '51-'52 cars also used a LOWER control arm with threaded steel inner bushings. The reason Stude engineers opted not to use the '51-'52 lower control arm on R3 Avantis was due to not having enough of these earlier lower arms in stock.....True?

No, the 51-52 control arms had the earlier cup style shock mount. (which changed in 57)

So they wouldn't use that .

Agree...Studebaker would not have gone back to using the earlier shock absorbers (and earlier front shock mounts) Answer...FALSE.

That would have also made the ride harsher. The bushings provide some fore aft compliance.
