Sherwood Egbert once proclaimed that the Avanti "Outhandles any other American car"....True?

Well, since Mr. Egbert was the "Father of the Avanti" he would say that, wouldn't he?

It was printed in an Esquire road test of a 1971 model. They described it as America's best kept secrete. The best handling car made in America.

That's gotta be journalistic hype. While the Avanti is not a bad handling car by contemporary standards it was in no way the best handling car made in America...especially in 1971. If it was, Studebaker and the Granatellis could have or would have done more than simply run it fast in a straight line on the salt.

Good points all!...but who had more exuberance than Andy Granatelli?....and that's the man who uttered the above quote!
